Abstract

This research  highlights a study of knowledge and Overreaching: The Question of Limits in Christopher Marlows Dr. Faustus. Really,Christopher Marlowe is the pioneer in good Tragedy writer in the Elizabethan age. This paper shows that Marlowe was a unique dramatist in his style of writing tragedy. This Research paper explores various aspects of this tragedy with a moral that man should never go against God. Even a great scholar should avoid his pride of power and knowledge. His purpose of passion for power and knowledge should ultimately for the welfare of mankind. Otherwise, he has to face consequences likes the great scholar, Doctor Faustus. The tragedy of Doctor Faustus lies in the fact that he is unable to accept the moral, spiritual, and existential limits of mankind. As such, therefore, this paper will examine the theme of knowledge and overreaching.
